Job Description
Part-time Attendant Care Worker
As a member of the team you will be responsible for assisting adults with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in various capacities at our day program.
You will provide a variety of services, but primary function is that of planning and preparing meals for large crowds, and secondary is supporting clients with social skills in a drop-in evnironment, and supporting clients in recreational programming.
Responsibilities:
· Assist client to identify ongoing service requirements
· Encourage client to maximize independence at all times
· Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with clients
· Encourage participation of clients in group activities
· Provide emotional support in response to immediate client needs
· Communicate all relevant information to team members
· Function as a member of interdisciplinary team
· Support client using a variety of techniques to accomplish specific goals and objectives
· Meal planning, preparation and assistance with feeding,
· Other attendant care such as assisted transfers, and personal care
· Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding staff/client and program information
Requirements:
· Safe Food Handling Certificate
· Experience with meal preparation for large groups
· Secondary School graduate
· Experience with Recreation Leisure for adults preferred
· Experience providing personal care to clients
· Knowledge of ABI required
· Flexibility and dependability
· Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral English)
· Criminal Record Check
· Up to date Level C CPR/First Aid
· TB Skin Test
· Reliable transportation, valid drivers licence is an asset
